This is a treasured *old style* recipe shared by a neighbor when I was young and creating my first hand written cookbook. I couldn’t resist photographing the old page. I have made these muffins so many times!
I realize now that this is when I first learned not to over mix the wet and dry ingredients in a muffin. During my 30+ years of Innkeeping baking I have obliged by this rule and taught the dogma to countless young bakers. It simply makes all the difference in the texture of the muffin.
